I make jewelry with seed beads and natural gemstones. In my metalsmithing, I work with copper and silver, making pendants, bracelets, rings. And some bolos too! I am currently apprenticeing with Chris Sewell in McAlester , OK . The last three years I attended silversmithing classes in Norman , OK with Elyse Bogart at the Firehouse School of Art. I took some classes in Taos, NM from Marilyn Nicholson who has lessons in her home , (a 100yr. old adobe house in Taos). She is the instructor for the Taos School of Metalsmithing. I found out about Elyse through Marilyn. Sept 2008. I have enrolled in my 2nd forging workshop with the renowned Artist , John Cogswell. I love hammering on my anvil and applying texture to silver, copper, or brass. Or just shaping the metal with my hammers. Every class has been a great learning experience. Chris Sewell ( who is also choctaw indian) has given me the opportunity to work with gold and lost wax casting, another one of the oldest forms of jewelry making. I have pieces of my jewelry for sale at the new SOFA Art Gallery located at 30 E. Choctaw in McAlester, OK. I love to read. I have an elementary teaching certificate and a bachelor's in Human Resources Management. But making jewelry is my passion. I never tire of learning and the challenge of creating my pencil designs into metals. I plan to be on the road and setup at more shows this coming year!
